Clueless at the Top

Our founders gave us a noble vision, but they handed down a powerful obstacle: hierarchical thinking pervades our lives. In the United States, prominent leaders are clueless; their smoke screens and empty rhetoric only sustain the problems they pledge to solve. But, as we identify consistent and predictable patterns, our anger and stress are transformed into creative tools. Instead of dancing to the tune of constraining attitudes and behaviors, we can use the CLUES to cut our puppet strings and free ourselves to build the lives we really want. Everyday stories illustrate how to expose and eliminate elusive hierarchies in our everyday lives — our jobs, relationships, communities, families, schools, corporations, government, business, religion, and education — not even our bedrooms are off limits.

Tip the Seesaw by Jumping Together

We are ready to create a country that works for all of us, not just some of us. But we can’t access the power and wisdom we need now if we go back to separately working our individual issues.

Imagine diverse groups pulling together as an unstoppable force. We form effective, fun connections built upon our common experiences and goals.

Many leaders and organizations are doing an excellent job of showcasing offensive top-of-the-hierarchy perspectives and actions. We learn productive, rewarding, and even humorous strategies that expose these hierarchists and shrink our vulnerability to their typical authoritarian playbooks.

The foundation is laid. Our Constitution and founding ideals are based on equality. We’ve broken down numerous individual hierarchies over the last 250 years. Our great experiment in diverse democracy is calling us to take this next unifying step.
